The four-bedroom and three-and-a-half bath Wausau Residence is a two-story home with a unique mezzanine split-level on the interior. The prairie-style windows serve as a constant in the structure, bringing together the simplistic exterior design with the more abstract and intricate interior design. Inside, the split-levels create an unconventional home with a feeling of endless space. The lack of closure forms a 67-foot room including a music studio, kitchen, great room, library and offices, all on different levels of the home. Despite an eccentric interior design, the rhythmic positioning of windows brings a sense of simplicity to the overall design. Sobeck used Vetter aluminum clad wood windows with prairie-style grilles in the airspace, in a combination of casement and fixed windows, all finished with brick red cladding. |
